Stranded

Closeup of spiral orb webImage via Wikipedia

You weave your silken strand around me;
It glistens at my quiet demise.
Trapped in this hell
of my choosing,
only my eyes can move.
You must enjoy seeing my fear.
I try not to look at you
as you stare at me,
gloating at your conquest.
I cannot even flail,
for I am wrapped tight.
I avert my eyes,
trying not to succumb
any more than I have to.
I will keep a part of me
just for me…
and that part of myself
will never be possessed by you.
Try as you may,
you will never see my fear.
